Video formats like VHS tapes were never built to last. Designed with a lifespan of just 20 years, most tapes made in the '80s and '90s are already past their expiration date — and the clock hasn't stopped. Magnetic tape degrades over time, losing picture quality and audio with every passing year. The plastic housing becomes brittle, and in some cases, tapes can no longer be played at all. If you have home videos sitting in a closet, basement, or garage, the time to act is now. Fleetwood Photo transfers VHS, Hi-8, Mini-DV, Digital 8, Compact VHS, and BetaMax tapes to digital files — handled in-house by our Knoxville archiving team, so your irreplaceable memories never leave our hands.

Every tape is rewound and then captured start to finish to ensure we recover all content. If a tape stops prior to expected recording times, we capture it a second time for verification.
Once your tape is captured, We evaluate each tape for the best possible quality and then return the digital files in the output of your choosing. We can provide you digital files on a USB flash drive, a digital download or a DVD disc.
If your tapes are labeled, we'll keep the content in chronological order. Have special notes? We'll do our best to include them. These are precious memories, so if you have a special request or questions - please ask us!
Home video memories get new life as digital movie files to be played on TVs, computers, tablets and phones. They can easily be shared with family members or friends. Once digitized – you’ll receive your original media back, along with perfectly preserved copies on a thumb drive, the cloud, or DVDs. Getting Started Guide
Each and every item is hand-digitized by our team, right here in our store. All audio media is first inspected, repaired and then cleaned in preparation for the transfer process. Proper handling of this media is a very important first step, as old records, reels and tapes can become brittle over time. Our experienced technicians are trained to properly handle vintage audio media and can splice or repair existing breaks or cracks.
Mini-DV formats include a $2.00 additional handling fee.
BetaMax pricing is assessed in-store.
DUPLICATE COPY: $9.95 each
We never recommend shipping away family archives, treasured photos and irreplaceable home video movies. It’s too risky. Fleetwood The Print Refinery has been professionally preserving memories with archiving and scanning services in Knoxville for over 30 years.
